Preparation:
If you require an HTTPS connection between the TaxPacc Client and your TaxPacc Server installation, then you will require an SSL certificate.
a) This SSL certificate can either be:
i. An SSL Certificate provided by yourself and installed on the Server machine.
ii. A built in/Self signed SSL certificate on the Server machine.
b) A Microsoft SQL Server installation, either on the same machine or on a dedicated and accessible Database Server.
Installing the Server:
1. Launch the provided TaxPacc Server EXE file.
2. You will be greeted by the TaxPacc Server Installation Wizard. You can choose to show additional help at any point in time.
Click Next > when you are ready to continue.
3. Please choose where you would like the TaxPacc Server to be installed on your system.
Click Next > when you are ready to continue.
4. Please choose whether you want to use an HTTP or HTTPS connection for your server address. On this page the additional help starts showing more options on what each option does as well as some guidance on binding an SSL certificate if HTTPS is chosen.
Click Next > when you are ready to continue.
5. Please choose the service account you want the TaxPacc Server to run under. You can choose between a built-in account or a Custom account.
Click Next > when you are ready to continue.
6. Please configure the run-time connection that the TaxPacc Server will use.

8. Here you can see a summary of the installation details.

9. Wait for the installation process to finish. Should anything go wrong, there will be a button to inspect the install log to troubleshoot any issues.
Click Finish when you are ready to continue.
10. Please go to Windows Services and Start ‘TaxPacc Service’.
11. Once the service is started, you can log in to TaxPacc using the 'superadmin' user, (password Applogix123) and set up other users after entering a license key.
12. If you have selected to have users login to TaxPacc with Active Directory then the following applies:
a) The username of these logins must be of the form DOMAIN\username, e.g. XRAY\Eric
b) The password does not matter, as this is not used in Windows authentication, but TaxPacc requires something to be filled in.
c) Once the users have been set up, they can try logging into TaxPacc. When entering the username, be sure to use the full form, i.e. DOMAIN\username
